Buxted Church of England Primary School

Inclusion and SEND

At Buxted, we believe that every child in our care should be able to flourish and to be the best they can be. Our approach is underpinned by the school’s Christian values of love, compassion and respect for others.

For children that do need additional help, we offer a range of support - whether that be for communication and interaction needs, cognition and learning difficulties, social and emotional needs, health or sensory difficulties or physical needs. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils.

We also work closely with their families and outside agencies such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and behaviour support specialists to ensure we fully meet their needs.

Sarah Reeves is our SEN Coordinator (SENCO). She works closely with the teachers to identify children who need additional support and to ensure that these children receive the differentiated provision and additional support they require to make good progress. She does this with the assistance of a team of specially trained teaching assistants.

To contact Sarah Reeves please email office@buxtedce.e-sussex.sch.uk

Jenny Eadon is the Governor for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who ensures that the school is held to account for improving outcomes for children with special educational needs or disabilities.

If you are concerned about your child’s learning, your first conversation should be with your child’s class teacher, as they work with your child on a day-to-day basis and therefore know them best.

For a more detailed account of what can be offered to support children with special educational needs or disabilities, please refer to our SEN Information Report 2022-2023
