Buxted Church of England Primary School

Our Church

The Church of St Margaret the Queen stands a short walk from our school in the beautiful grounds of Buxted Park. Dating back to the 13th century and built on the site of a much earlier church it is dedicated to Margaret the Queen of Scotland who died in 1093AD.

The church was surrounded by the village of Buxted until the early 19th Century, when the Third Earl of Liverpool wanted to enlarge his estate. Today the village lies about a mile away leaving our beautiful church surrounded by leafy parkland.

We are very lucky to be able to visit the church on a regular basis both to celebrate as a school and to join the community for special events. We learn about our church in the school curriculum with our Year 2 children enjoying the topic Our Church and other year groups visiting throughout the year as part of local history studies or RE.

Our Rector, the Reverend Peter Molloy, is actively involved in school life visiting us at least once a week and leading our worship for major church festivals at St Margaret the Queen.

Father Peter is a great communicator and his connection with the children is wonderful. It means that our children really see that church and faith are fundamental to their lives in school.
